(ECNS) -- World’s first ever half-marathon race between humanoid robots and humans will be held in Beijing on April 13, authorities said Tuesday.
Human runners will compete with humanoid robots from tech firms, research institutions, and robot clubs worldwide in the 21.0975-kilometer race.
During the competition, robots can change batteries or finish the competition in a relay format, with a 10-minute penalty for each time a robot is replaced during the match. Different zones will be arranged to separate human racers and robots to ensure safety.
The race will be organized by officials of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, according to a press conference held by the Beijing Municipal Government.
