Mongolian grassland fires on China-Mongolia border put out by Chinese firefighters

(ECNS) -- Grassland fires from Mongolia which threatened to spread across the border to China were put out successfully by Chinese firefighters on Tuesday.

Officials at the Forest and Grassland Fire Prevention headquarters of Hulunbuir in China found fires outside the borders of two of the city's counties - the New Barag Left and Right Banners using satellite remote sensing monitoring.

A total of 140 firefighters were dispatched to intercept the grassland fires. As of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the fire have been put out on the border between China and Mongolia. Chinese firefighters will continue to patrol to make sure the fires will not reignite.
