Visually impaired artist creates vivid paintings

(ECNS) -- A 43-year-old man with a visual impairment from Huaian City, Jiangsu Province, has painted many vivid works of art.

In 2006, optic atrophy caused by albinism made Wang Xingwei unable to see things clearly and his eyesight gradually dropped to 0.01 to 0.02. However, the disease didn't impede him from continuing his hobbies. "Even so, I still insist on drawing," said Wang.

Wang loves reading and has learned painting, calligraphy and seal cutting by himself before his eyesight grows too feeble. He has finished many traditional Chinese paintings, themed on horses and peonies, with the help of a magnifying glass.

He paints with his imagination and believes talent, diligence, and basic skills are vital to painting.

Wang is also altruistic and has completed cornea donation formalities. He also provides free massage services for the elderly and disabled, hoping to make a modest contribution to society.

"My doctor said my corneas are healthy. If I lost my eyesight entirely, I'd like to donate them to others. I hope every disable person can get rid of self-abasement and live better," said Wang.
