Ministry of Education unveils statistics on schools

China had 498,300 schools of all levels nationwide in 2023, a 3.9 percent decline compared to the previous year. A total of 291 million students were enrolled, seeing a 0.52 percent decrease from the previous year. The number of full-time teachers sat at 18.92 million, increasing 0.6 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Education said on Friday.
