Qin Gang meets U.S. envoy Burns

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with United States Ambassador to China Richard Burns in Beijing on Monday.

Qin said the China-U.S. relationship is of great significance not only to China and the U.S., but also to the world.

"The most urgent task at hand is to stabilize China-U.S. relations, avoid spiraling down, and prevent accidents between China and the U.S.," he said.

"This should be the most fundamental consensus between China and the U.S. as well as the bottom line that must be maintained when countries, especially two major countries, get along," he added.
