State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday that Beijing is willing to work with Seoul to jointly safeguard the safety and smooth flow of industrial and supply chains, as well as maintain the international free trade system.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the remarks in a video talk with Foreign Minister Park Jin of the Republic of Korea.

During the talk, Wang expounded China's position on the United State's CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act and the US' rejection to the World Trade Organization's decision that the US violated international trade rules.

He stressed that the US' acts obviously damaged the legitimate rights and interests of countries including China and the ROK, proving once again that the US is a destroyer, rather than a builder, of international rules.

Wang urged all countries to stand up and jointly resist the outdated mentality and unilateral bullying which go against globalization, and jointly maintain and practice true multilateralism.

As this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Wang said China is ready to stick to the good-neighborliness and friendship, strengthen strategic communication, and focus on cooperation and win-win results with the ROK.

He called on the two countries to promote the sound and steady development of bilateral ties, and bolster cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues.

Noting the successful meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Yoon Suk-yeol in Bali and how it pointed out the direction for the further development of China-ROK relations, Wang said China would like to work with the ROK to earnestly implement the important consensus of the two heads of state to better benefit the two countries and two peoples.

Wang, at the meeting, briefed the major outcomes and great significance of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, highlighting that China would continue to steadfastly follow a path of peaceful development, commit itself to a fundamental national policy of opening to the outside world and pursue a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up.

It will be of great benefit to all countries, and would also bring new opportunities for the development of China-ROK relations, Wang added.

Park said the ROK congratulated the successful convening of the congress and looked forward to China's continuous prosperity and development so as to make a greater contribution to promoting the peace and stability of Northeast Asia and the world.

ROK thought positively of the bilateral meeting between two heads of state in Bali, deeming the meeting, based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, to have ushered in a milestone in the new era of ROK-China cooperation, he added.

He also said the ROK would like to strengthen high-level exchanges and communication, deepen economic and trade cooperation, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and non-official exchanges to steer the bilateral relations to a higher level.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula situation and international and regional issues of common concern.
