Chinese swimmer Tang Qianting wins Asian Games gold, sets sights on world record
(ECNS) -- China's Tang Qianting defended her women's 50-meter breaststroke title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, winning in a Games record time of 29.45 seconds.
Speaking after the race, Tang said that she hopes to next challenge the world record.
"I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. I just need to do my best every day and bring out the results of each day's training," she said. "I'm becoming more mature, and with the Los Angeles Olympics getting closer, I should have a clearer idea of what I need to do each day."
Tang noted that breaststroke differs from other strokes, as it depends heavily on a swimmer's form and feel for the water on any given day.
Looking ahead, Tang identified explosiveness as a key area for improvement. She said she has no major technical issues and mainly needs to build strength.
