Art exhibition marking 90th anniversary of Long March opens in Zunyi
(ECNS) -- An art exhibition marking the 90th anniversary of the Long March opened Thursday at the Zunyi Art Museum in Zunyi in southwestern China's Guizhou province, featuring more than 90 artworks from three Chinese cities.
The Long March was a strategic retreat by the Communist Red Army from 1934 to 1936 to escape encirclement by Nationalist forces. The troops traveled thousands of kilometers across China before reaching a new base in the northwest. In January 1935, the Chinese Communist Party held a meeting in Zunyi that reshaped its leadership and is regarded as a turning point in the party's history.
The exhibition includes traditional Chinese painting, oil painting and printmaking. It is free and open to the public through Nov. 29.
