(ECNS) -- The number of planned flight cancellations on routes from China to Japan between Nov. 24 and Dec. 31 has risen by about 56 percent compared with the same period last month, CCTV News reported on Monday.

Booking data show that demand for Japan-bound flights has declined since Nov. 15, when China’s three major airlines — Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines — announced refunds or flexible arrangements for tickets on Japan routes.

As of now, bookings for flights operated by domestic carriers (excluding 9 Air and Spring Airlines) from China to Japan over the next 60 days have fallen by around 29 percent compared with the level recorded on Nov. 15 for the subsequent 60-day period.
