Middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion transfers over 80 billion cubic meters of water to north China

(ECNS) -- As of Friday, the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project's has transferred over 80 billion cubic meters of water to northern regions, benefiting nearly 118 million people, the Ministry of Water Resources, data released on Friday showed.

People from 27 large and medium-sized cities including Henan, Hebei, Tianjin and Beijing, and 243 counties are supplied with quality water by the middle route. 

Put into operation nearly 12 years ago, the middle route has played a key role in optimizing water resource allocation and restoration, securing drinking water safety for local residents, and facilitating north-south economic circulation. It has provided solid support for national water security.
