NEV exports via Ningbo Port nearly double to top 300,000 units in Jan-Aug

(ECNS) -- Data released by Ningbo Customs in Zhejiang Province on Sunday showed that Ningbo Port exported 301,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) worth 34.22 billion yuan ($5.05 billion) in the first eight months of this year. The figures were up 99.1% and 95.5% year on year, respectively.

Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, and the EU were the main export destinations. During the January-August period, the value of NEV exports from Ningbo Port to Brazil and the EU rose 166.0% and 191.5% year on year, respectively. Exports to Central and Eastern European markets also picked up quickly, with their value rising 360.3%.

Chen Xue, an executive at a supply chain firm in Ningbo, said, “Our vehicle exports mainly go to markets in the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and North Africa, where demand remains stable. In the first eight months, our company handled 58,200 vehicles for export, up 5.2% year on year. NEV exports stood out, rising 11.5% year on year.”

To make customs clearance for vehicles more efficient, Ningbo Customs has pushed ahead with smart customs development to support automakers’ exports.
