Extreme rainfall in central China's Hunan leaves 5 dead, 11 missing(1/5)

Continuous heavy rains have lashed Shimen County, leaving five people dead and 11 others missing, according to local authorities. Since early Sunday, the county has been hit by extreme downpours, with record-breaking downpours and unprecedented disaster risks.

As of Wednesday morning, the disaster has affected 103,247 people from 23 townships and districts, local authorities said. Rescue operations are ongoing.
