(ECNS) -- Military means are not the solution to issues in the Middle East and the Gulf region, as they will only lead to escalation that serves no one's interest, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Tuesday.
Mao made the remarks at a regular press conference when asked whether China was concerned about a possible resumption of U.S. or Israeli attacks on Iran after the U.S. midterm elections, following visits by Iranian and Saudi officials to China.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi has elaborated on China's position on the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region, Mao said.
It is hoped that relevant parties will stick to peace, resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation, and restore peace and tranquility in the Middle East and the Gulf region at an early date, Mao said.
