(ECNS) -- Chinese outdoor gear makers are attracting buyers from around the world at the third phase of the 140th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, with lightweight, smart and more versatile products.
Themed "Better Life," the ongoing exhibition in Guangzhou, in southern China's Guangdong province, showcases a wide range of Chinese-made outdoor products, from camping tents and multifunctional tools to lightweight trekking poles.
Maria Antonia Gomes, a Brazilian buyer attending the fair for the first time, showed interest in several Chinese-made camping tents and asked about their prices. She said Chinese outdoor products offered good value for money, practical designs and a variety of functions that catered to consumer demand in Brazil.
Gomes said she looked forward to establishing business partnerships with Chinese manufacturers.
Taizhou Runyuan Electromechanical Technology Development Co. brought several innovative products to the fair, including hunting tents. Featuring a quick-release setup system, the tents can be adapted to different vehicle models and used for activities such as camping and outdoor hunting, said Wang Zhigang, the company's export sales manager.
The company has attracted inquiries from buyers in several countries, some of whom have already arranged visits to its factory to explore potential cooperation, Wang said.
About 90% of the company's orders come from overseas markets, with products sold across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Its overseas sales grew about 10% from a year earlier in the first half of 2026, Wang said. The company has also established factories in Vietnam and Bangladesh as part of its efforts to expand its overseas production.
At the booth of BINOVO, a Guangdong-based company specializing in innovative lifestyle tools and knives, several Turkish buyers placed a sample order for a medium-sized, portable multifunctional pliers tool.
Huang Weixiao, the company's booth manager, said its outdoor and camping products, along with multifunctional tools, were sold in more than 50 countries and regions. Overseas sales reached about $50 million in the first half of 2026, he said.
Leonardo Guimaraes Heusi, a buyer from South America, said Chinese outdoor products were "very cool" and had strong appeal among local consumers.
China's exports of outdoor products reached $1.399 billion in the first half of 2026, according to the China Sporting Goods Federation.
At the booth of Shaanxi Zhongsheng Tianze FRP Tech Co. Ltd., U.S. buyer Shaun Ellis discussed a potential purchase of carbon-fiber trekking poles, praising their lightweight design and portability.
Wang Siqi, a brand marketing specialist with the company's international department, said the carbon-fiber poles offered high strength, rigidity and durability while remaining lightweight and easy to carry.
The company tailors its product development and manufacturing to the needs of consumers in different markets, with products exported to countries including the United States, Russia, Britain and Italy. Overseas orders account for about 70% of its total orders, Wang Siqi said.
