(ECNS) -- Veteran Hong Kong actor Bowie Woo, 94, was presented with a lifetime achievement award at a ceremony in Hong Kong on Sunday, in recognition of his decades-long career in film and television.
Woo, known to generations of Hong Kong audiences as "Sau Gor", made his film debut in Men's Hearts in 1953. In a career spanning more than seven decades, he has appeared in hundreds of films and television productions, including The Haunted Cop Shop (1987) and Overheard 2 (2011).
He was among those honored at the 19th World Outstanding Chinese Awards, organized by the World Chinese Business Investment Foundation and held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event honored individuals from a range of fields, including science, culture, the arts, sports and business.
Other honorees included scientist Yan Ning, Chinese University of Hong Kong Vice-Chancellor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, and actors Eric Tsang Chi-wai and Tony Leung Ka-fai, who received the World Outstanding Chinese Award. Pianist Aristo Sham and artist Li Xiaolin were among those recognized with the World Outstanding Artist Award.
At the ceremony, Woo urged younger generations to work hard and not shy away from challenging tasks. Leung said he was inspired by Woo's determination never to give up and hoped to pass on that spirit.
