China hopes Germany, EU will work in same direction with China: spokesperson

(ECNS) -- China hopes Germany and the European Union (EU) will stay objective and rational, and work in the same direction with China, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Wednesday.

Guo made the remarks in response to a question about German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's recent comments on Europe-Asia cooperation and Germany's policy towards China.

China stands for openness and cooperation, and stays committed to working with all parties to keep global industrial and supply chains stable and secure and inject more impetus and certainty into the world economy, Guo said.

There is a high degree of economic complementarity between China and Germany and between China and Europe. Their industries are mutually embedded, and their practical cooperation is mutually beneficial, Guo said.

It is hoped that Germany and the EU will work with China so that both sides can be trustworthy and predictable partners, resolve differences and disputes through dialogue and consultation, keep global industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded, and provide more certainty for cooperation between their business communities, Guo added.
