(ECNS) -- The final gap in the Shahe Extra-large Bridge on the rolling stock access line of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-speed Railway was closed on Tuesday.
The bridge is a critical component for the connection to the Chengdu rail hub of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-speed Railway.
Extending about 1.47 km, it uses a cast-in-place continuous beam structure with a span configuration of 62 + 2 × 112 + 62 meters.
The bridge has left-hand, double-track and right-hand sections, with piers numbered from 0 to 39. The completed segment sits between Pier 19 and Pier 20, spanning the Dasha River and Simaqiao Road.
Wu Chaoxu, project manager of China Railway No. 8 Engineering Group’s Chengdu Hub Project, said rigorous checks, including the three-inspection system, were carried out at critical stages, and that all indicators meet design and regulatory standards.
Closing the gap connects the rolling stock access route linking the Chengdu railway station complex to the electric multiple unit train depot, removing a key bottleneck in the access line project.
