(ECNS) -- Registration for China's 2027 national civil service examination opened at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, with 35,700 positions available at central government agencies and their directly affiliated institutions.
This year's recruitment places particular emphasis on safeguarding fairness, with measures to prevent and combat coordinated application fraud, including the introduction of verification of applicants' names and identities during registration, according to the official registration website.
Under the new procedure, applicants must register on the official recruitment website during the designated registration period and complete identity verification using methods such as an electronic social security card before they can apply for positions and submit their applications.
Zhuang Deshui, deputy director of Peking University's Center for Public Policy Research, said that in previous registration rounds, groups of applicants coordinated to apply for the same position to secure a job for a particular candidate, while the others served merely as decoys.
The tactic artificially inflates the apparent competition for a position, potentially discouraging other applicants from applying, he said.
"Although this practice may appear to exploit loopholes in the rules, it seriously undermines the recruitment principles of openness, equality, competition and merit-based selection," said Yi Dinghong, an expert at the Huatu Education Research Institute.
Such fraudulent practices not only deprive genuinely qualified candidates of opportunities but also undermine public confidence in the civil service examination system, Yi said.
Meanwhile, recruitment policies and plans continue to favor grassroots positions and recent college graduates.
