(ECNS) -- The 19th China-EU Investment and Trade Fair will be held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, from Oct. 21 to 23, with business delegations from more than 20 countries expected to participate, according to officials.
Companies and business delegations from several European countries, including Spain, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Poland, have confirmed their participation.
At a press conference in Beijing on Monday, Dang Hong, deputy Party secretary of the China Chamber of International Commerce, said this year's fair will explore new opportunities and avenues for China-EU cooperation in key sectors, including new energy and environmental protection, biomedicine, agriculture and food, intelligent robotics, frontier technologies, vocational education, and commercial legal services.
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China will also lead a delegation of prominent European companies to take part in business talks, with both the scale and profile of European participation expected to increase.
Launched by the European Commission, the fair has been held 18 times since 2002. It has become a major platform for cooperation on investment, trade and innovation between China and the EU, with broad participation from EU member states and European businesses.
