(ECNS) -- Hotpot restaurants in southwestern China's Chongqing hosted more than 15.7 million table sittings during the National Day holiday, the Chongqing Hotpot Industry Association said Friday, as visitors from home and overseas thronged the city's top tourist sites.
The proportion of overseas diners reached a record, the association said, adding that the city's hotpot scene benefited from strong visitor traffic at major tourist spots, including Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street and Hongyadong.
Tourism officials said monitored A-level scenic spots in Chongqing received 9.1 million visits over the holiday. Inbound overnight tourist arrivals also surged, officials said, boosting demand for local cuisine and other tourism-related services.
