(ECNS) -- China firmly opposes and combats hacking activities in accordance with law, and firmly opposes the spreading of disinformation and making noises for political agenda, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Friday.
Mao made the remarks at a regular media briefing when asked to comment on a report that the U.S. Department of Justice had seized seven internet domains allegedly linked to Chinese hackers who were attempting to hack critical infrastructure systems in the United States and other countries.
Cybersecurity is an issue of common concern for China and the United States, Mao said.
China urges the U.S. side to quit double standards and political manipulation, jointly tackle cybersecurity risks through equal-footed dialogue and consultation, and build a relationship characterized by peace, stability and mutual respect on cyber issues, she added.
