(ECNS)— The vessel Changrongkou set sail from the Qinzhou port area of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port on Thursday, loaded with 2,727 Chinese vehicles bound for Duqm Port in Oman, marking a new record for single-voyage roll-on/roll-off vehicle exports at Beibu Gulf Port.
Duqm Port lies in southeastern Oman on the Arabian Sea. The direct voyage from Qinzhou to the Middle East requires no transshipment and takes about 15 days.
The Qinzhou terminal uses a combined transport model of rail car carriers and roll-on/roll-off ships.
Yuan Qiuhong, deputy manager of the Business Department at Beibu Gulf Port Qinzhou Terminal Co. Ltd., said vehicles travel via dedicated trains directly from factories in Chongqing to the port for integrated loading operations.
The port’s Middle East roll-on/roll-off shipping service now runs monthly. Automakers from Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang and northeastern China have chosen Beibu Gulf Port as their export gateway.
Since the launch of its roll-on/roll-off service, Beibu Gulf Port has completed 10 voyages as of September, exporting more than 11,000 fully assembled vehicles and construction machinery.
