(ECNS) -- The 8th China Grain Trading Conference concluded on Monday in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, with transactions and intended deals totaling 87.87 billion yuan (about $12.96 billion).
The three-day event facilitated trade in 29.2 million metric tons of grain and oil products and 2,111 units of grain machinery through on-site activities and online sessions on the National Grain Trade Center platform.
Covering about 100,000 square meters, the conference set a new record for scale, featuring 13 themed exhibition zones and attracting more than 3,100 enterprises and over 20,000 industry professionals.
During the event, participants signed 18 inter-provincial strategic cooperation agreements, six government-enterprise agreements, 12 corporate partnership agreements, six consumption assistance agreements and seven university talent cooperation agreements.
An international premium products exhibition zone was established to strengthen links across cross-border grain supply chains. A China-Kazakhstan grain trading platform was also launched, providing a standardized and efficient channel for online grain trading.
An intelligent grain machinery exhibition showcased the latest equipment, while research and talent achievement zones highlighted new models for disciplinary development, talent cultivation and industry-education integration in grain-related fields.
The conference also hosted in-depth discussions on implementing the whole-grain industry at the provincial level, focusing on challenges in industrialization, promotion and supply-demand alignment.
Hunan Province, a major grain-producing region, has maintained annual grain output of more than 30 billion kg for six consecutive years.
