Huawei releases new high-performance chip after six years

(ECNS) -- Huawei on Monday launched the Mate XT 2, its tri-foldable smartphone, in Guangzhou, featuring the latest Kirin 9050 Pro chip.

The launch marks Huawei's first introduction of a new Kirin chip at a flagship product launch in six years, since the global launch of the Huawei Mate 40 series.

The Kirin 9050 Pro is the first high-performance processor to adopt logic-layered folding technology. Its logic units are arranged in multiple layers, with vertical interconnect channels added to shorten signal transmission paths.

The design is expected to reduce latency and boost overall performance, underscoring Huawei's push to advance chip innovation alongside its foldable smartphone lineup.
