(ECNS) -- China Southern Cargo has officially opened its new international inbound cargo terminal in Guangzhou, marking the first time the airline has applied artificial intelligence algorithms throughout the entire logistics process at an international cargo terminal.
The facility covers about 25,000 square meters, including 19,800 square meters of warehouse space. It is equipped with automated systems such as an intelligent three-dimensional warehouse, AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) driverless forklifts and ETV container storage systems.
The terminal also uses a proprietary intelligent warehouse management system and dynamic scheduling system, enabling integrated operations across storage scheduling, intra-warehouse transportation and vehicle coordination.
Previously, cargo terminals relied heavily on manual operations, requiring considerable time and labor to locate shipments and synchronize information. By integrating automated equipment with intelligent scheduling, the new terminal has reduced the processing time for individual international inbound cargo shipments from 75 minutes to 60 minutes, while improving space utilization, cargo handling efficiency and customs connectivity.
The terminal has a peak daily processing capacity of 1,600 metric tons and can be further expanded to handle approximately 345,000 metric tons of international inbound cargo annually by 2030.
