(ECNS) -- Starry Lee Wai-king, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday encouraged Hong Kong people and businesses operating on the Chinese mainland to leverage their strengths to facilitate Hong Kong's deeper integration into and service to China's overall development strategy.

Lee addressed a sharing session hosted by the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing and the Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce, with about 200 business representatives attending.

She noted that the Legislative Council will act as a promoter and supervisor to help implement Hong Kong's upcoming first five-year development plan, and said Hong Kong can serve as a bridge for mainland tech-focused companies expanding into global markets through its international platforms.

Arsene Yiu Kai-cheuk, director of the HKSAR Government's Beijing Office, noted that with the start of the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), Hong Kong institutions will step up exchanges to help residents better seize national development opportunities.
