(ECNS) -- A Cross-Strait artificial intelligence industry development alliance was established on Sunday in Kunshan, east China’s Jiangsu Province, aiming to combine the complementary strengths of the Chinese mainland and Taiwan to drive growth in the AI sector.
Kunshan is one of the mainland’s most active hubs for Taiwan investment, hosting over 70% of Taiwan’s top 100 manufacturing firms, with its local AI industry already exceeding 100 billion yuan (about 14.84 billion US dollars).
Hu Yang, an associate professor with Tsinghua University, noted that the Chinese mainland’s vast market and diverse application scenarios pair perfectly with Taiwan’s expertise in precision manufacturing and product development.
Founded by leading enterprises including Luxshare Industries, alongside academic institutions and industrial funds, the alliance counts over 60 initial members covering the full AI industry chain.
A development fund worth 3 billion yuan for AI industry was also launched alongside the alliance, targeting key sectors from AI servers to embodied intelligence and smart connected vehicles.
The alliance will drive cross-strait AI cooperation from simple supply chain complementarity to deeper, shared innovation in technologies, standards and global market expansion.
