U.S. President Donald Trump created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, to cut federal spending and bureaucracy. The plan included buyouts for voluntary resignations and reducing USAID staff from tens of thousands to just 290. However, 14 states sued to nullify what they called unconstitutional actions by Musk’s DOGE.
Meant to boost efficiency and cut costs, the plan was poorly designed and executed, backfiring and worsening chaos within the White House. Yet both sides, ignoring the fallout, kept fighting over short-term gains—an absurd spectacle.
