(ECNS) -- The Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 premiered in Hong Kong on Tuesday, attracting a massive crowd, including devoted fans who watched the film three or four times. Some even traveled from the Chinese mainland specifically.
When asked about the most memorable scene, one viewer said that he was deeply moved by the emotional moment when Ne Zha’s mother, Lady Yin, embraced him. Some found themselves inspired by the adrenaline-pumping scene of Ne Zha’s fight.
Ne Zha 2, the sequel to the highly acclaimed Ne Zha 1 (2019), continues the story of Ne Zha and Ao Bing as they undergo a rebirth while facing numerous challenges and new adversaries. Directed by Yang Yu (better known as Jiaozi), the film impresses audiences with its stunning animation and thrilling plots.
As of Tuesday evening, the total box office earnings have surpassed 12.3 billion yuan ($1.69 billion). On its 21st day in theaters, Ne Zha 2 claimed the top spot on the global animation box office chart.
Ne Zha 2 is released in Hong Kong and Macao jointly by Mandarin Films, Intercontinental Film, Sil-Metropole Organization, and Emperor Cinemas. The film is scheduled for a full theatrical release across Hong Kong and Macao starting this Saturday.
