(ECNS) -- A service listing nearby odd jobs newly launched by WeChat, has provided over 3,000 vacancies.
According to Tencent, this new function was first unveiled in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province.
The platform, or odd job market, provides a variety of positions, such as warehouseperson, fire-fighting facility operator, canteen handyperson, operations manager, quality control supervisor, and electrical and mechanical installation supervisor.
Users can view salaries, company name and address, and filter out these positions by distance.
As a province with a large demand for labor, Guangdong has a large flexible employment market. Launch of the odd job market function is supported by Tencent Travel Service, China Post Guangdong Branch, Jiangmen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and WeChat Pay.
In addition, WeChat Pay has also launched a digital work card for construction of the odd job market, including contracting, attendance, and insurance protection and settlement. Employees seeking for short-term employment can find jobs while safeguarding their legal rights. The digital solution has covered over 10 million casual laborers, helping them increase their incomes by 20 billion yuan (about $2.81 billion), while its daily settlement insurance has covered more than 1.7 million people.
The odd job service will be gradually extended to other cities, said Tencent, adding it will cooperate with legal employers and vet all company credentials.
