(ECNS) -- Autonomous vehicles operating in Beijing’s Yizhuang Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone are expected to enter a larger range in 2025.
Future expansion of the demonstration zone will be planned between the Fourth and Sixth Ring Roads, covering approximately 3,000 square kilometers, according to an official.
Beijing Daily reported that the city is promoting the legislative process for autonomous driving vehicle regulations, aiming for implementation next year.
These regulations will address both the current needs and future potential of intelligent connected vehicles, providing clear, transparent, and predictable guidelines for the research and management of L3 and higher-level intelligent connected driving.
Kong Lei, director of a local administrative committee, stated that to better meet the development needs of enterprises, Yizhuang has planned an industrial ecosystem space of 2.7 million square meters.
This space is designed to create an Intelligent Connected Innovation Port, Automotive Industry Headquarters Base, Frontier Technology Research and Development Base, High-end Manufacturing Demonstration Base, and Industrial Ecosystem Support Base, with the goal of building an automotive smart manufacturing innovation city.
