Private cars allowed to leave Shanghai with permission

(ECNS) -- People who plan to leave Shanghai by driving due to work, study, and life can do so with permission based on obeying COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control regulations, said Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau on Wednesday.

The announcement was released on the WeChat account of the local Public Security Bureau.

People can apply for the permission in advance and then directly drive to their destinations beyond Shanghai with the related certificate, valid for 6 hours from the declared departure time, said the announcement.

Those illegally operating passenger transport, etc. will be held accountable according to law, it was added.

Meanwhile, the Public Security Bureau also stressed that people in Shanghai are encouraged to stay in the city to prevent the overflow of the pandemic.
