(Photo: CRIENGLISH.COM/William Wang) Although Beijing's Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution will be under renovation until August 2017, it remains a popular destination for visitors. The museum's front yard contains an impressive number of tanks, boats and other military vehicles. It's easy to spend an hour or two wandering the yard, appreciating the raw beauty of such creations, and reflecting on the lives lost due to their operations. Surprisingly, much of the collection has international origins. The vehicles created by other countries such as Japan, Russia, America and Canada are more populous than those created by China itself. There are basic descriptions of each vehicle in English, and identification of noteworthy figures who rode in or commanded particular vehicles. One plane is identified as having been piloted by Wang Hai, the first aviator to become Commander of the?People's Liberation Army Air Force. Admission to the museum is free, but visitors need to bring their Chinese ID or passport.
