There are also advanced waste and sewage disposal systems to deal with daily garbage in China's Changcheng and Zhongshan Antarctic Stations. And members of the Chinese Antarctic scientific expedition team are required to choose biodegradable and nontoxic daily necessities.

Everyday members of the Zhongshan Station will put combustible garbage in incinerators to burn it. Garbage that cannot be degraded like metal and glass will be crushed and sealed in containers, waiting for the Chinese icebreaker Xuelong, or Snow Dragon, to take it back to China for later disposal.
