The conviction of Jimmy Lai underscores that any individual who seeks to undermine national security will ultimately face justice, and that judicial proceedings are capable of revealing the full facts of a case, HKSAR Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said on Monday when commenting on the latest ruling. He noted that extensive evidence and witness testimony presented during the trial clearly demonstrated to the public Lai's key role in the planning, organization and incitement of social turmoil in Hong Kong.
Earlier on Monday, the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region found Jimmy Lai, who played a leading role in anti-China disturbances in the city, guilty of two counts of conspiracy to collude with external forces, as well as one count of conspiracy to publish seditious materials.
