(ECNS) -- South Korea set up public mourning sites across Seoul to mourn the victims of the stampede in Itaewon.

Besides Itaewon and Seoul Plaza, mourning sites have been set up in government office buildings in Seoul. Various celebrations scheduled for this week have been canceled.

South Korea on Sunday declared a period of national mourning from October 30 to November 5 and ordered the lowering of flags after the deadly stampede in Seoul.

More than 150 people have died in a crowd crush while celebrating Halloween in one of Seoul's most popular nightlife districts.

South Korean authorities have opened an investigation into the disaster.
