(ECNS) -- As it is getting colder in winter, the renovation project of Norbulingka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has been paused and will not be resumed until March next year.

The project was launched in July 2020 by the local government and planned to maintain and repair golden roofs and supporting facilities of ancient buildings that have been disfigured or malfunctioned.

Seventy percent of the project has been finished to this day and the rest of it awaits the renovation team.

Norbulingka, China's key protected cultural relic unit, was built more than 200 years ago and served as the summer residence and administrative center of the Dalai Lamas.
