Beijing 2022 Olympic Flame lit in Ancient Olympia

(ECNS) -- The Beijing 2022 Olympic Flame was lit successfully on Monday at the ancient Olympia site on the Peloponnese Peninsula, the birthplace of the Olympic movement.

Greek actress Xanthi Georgiou played the role of High Priestess once again after the Tokyo Olympics.

The flame will be handed over to the organizers of Beijing 2022 on Oct.19 local time at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens.

After that, the Olympic flame will continue its relay and head for China.
