Blizzard lasts 16 hours in 'the coldest town of China'

(ECNS) -- Affected by the cold air, the first blizzard of this fall season hit the Huzhong District, Daxinganling, Heilongjiang Province, on Sunday.

As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, the precipitation reached 18.1 mm and the maximum snow depth reached 30 cm.

The annual average temperature here is about minus 4.3 degrees Celsius.

And the historical minimum temperature here is bone-chilling minus 53.2 degrees Celsius.

With more than 40 days of lower than minus 40 degrees Celsius annually, it is known for "the coldest town of China."
