(ECNS) -- China Eastern Airlines has introduced an RFID bag tracking service for passengers at Nanjing Lukou International Airport in Jiangsu Province.
The service allows passengers to track their checked luggage in real time, using the airline's app or WeChat.
RFID is a wireless technology that can identify and track tags containing electronic information on a chip in the luggage ticket.
When passengers check in their baggage, airline systems insert the flight number, departure, arrival airports, and other information into the chip.
The Shanghai-based airline started using RFID technology at two local airports in July 2019.
