A cave in Yungang Grottoes has been printed via 3D technology. The reproduction can be divided into various parts for transportation. The movable replica is based on the original cave No 18. It is 22 meters wide and 17 meters high.

The project is run by a team from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Using special materials, the replica will maintain its original size, texture and color. No. 3 and No. 12 caves have been printed before.

More than 59,000 statues were carved in 45 caves throughout Yungang Grottoes. Yungang Grottoes were listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2001.
