Tropical storm Beta continued to bring rainfall to southeast Texas, the United States, on Tuesday, causing some flood in the area.

A Flash Flood Warning has been extended until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday for Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston and Harris counties in Texas for additional heavy rains. Local media reported that some neighborhoods of those areas picked up over 15 centimeters of rain on Monday.

A Storm Surge Warning remains in place for coastal areas, where 60 to 120 centimeters of surge is still possible while Beta winds down.

Beta made landfall at about 10 p.m. Monday at the end of the Matagorda Peninsula, about 160 kilometers southwest of Houston. It weakened to a tropical depression on Tuesday morning and is forecast to move eastward sometime Wednesday.

Due to the threat of inclement weather from Beta, some school districts in southeast Texas, including Houston Independent School District, the largest one in Texas, are closed on Tuesday.
