Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu's first music album, Antares, has returned to the top of the iTunes charts, edging out Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, szonline.net reports.

This follows the removal of songs from his album from US iTunes Store Top 100 Charts by Apple after allegations that he was artificially boosting his sales numbers.

Controversy ensued over the weekend when some fans, who might not be familiar with Kris Wu's career, took to the internet to express their doubts about the authenticity of his sales numbers. A tweet allegedly sent out by Scooter Braun, Ariana Grande's manager, also reportedly questioned the authenticity of Wu's popularity saying "he is using bots…", according to a screenshot circulated online.

However, Braun posted a long text on Instagram on Wednesday, saying that someone had used his name on Twitter and he recognize Kris Wu as global star after connecting with him directly.

Responding to the doubts and questions by some of the netizens, Kris's fans were outraged over the allegations and believed that Apple underestimated the number of Chinese fans he has.

The return of the Antares album to the iTunes charts has made Kris's fans believe more firmly that the sales numbers of the album were real.
