A man was banned from buying train tickets for a period of time after forcibly occupying another passenger's seat on a train from Jinan to Beijing on August 21, Jinan railway authorities said on Friday.

The man, surnamed Sun, was also fined 200 yuan (U.S.$29), People's Daily reported.

A video of him sitting in a young woman's seat and refusing to move, even after train staff and on-board police became involved, went viral recently, sparking fury among Chinese netizens.

Sun uploaded a video on August 22 to show his remorse and apologize for his behavior, not only to the female passenger but also the public.
