Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday that Japan's letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is full of erroneous views and hypocritical lies.
Lin said at a regular news briefing that the Japanese side claims to follow a so-called consistent position on the Taiwan question. Still, it has remained evasive about what exactly this "consistent position" is and has yet to give China a direct answer.
China firmly opposes Japan's efforts to challenge the post-war international order and to revive militarism, Lin said, urging Japan to reflect on its past, correct its mistakes, fulfill its obligations as a defeated nation in the war, and honor its commitments to China and the international community through concrete actions.
