In response to media reports that Canadian agencies recently detected that an information campaign targeting Canadian Liberal Party leader candidate Ms. Chrystia Freeland took place on the Chinese social media app WeChat, a spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Canada said on Friday that I am not aware of the so-called information campaign mentioned.

"But I want to emphasize that it is absurd and makes no sense to attack and smear #China merely based on the fabricated remarks of some so-called experts. China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposes this," the spokesperson said.

The Liberal Party of Canada's leadership race is Canada's internal affairs. China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and has no interest whatsoever in interfering in Canada's internal affairs, the spokesperson said.

At the same time, we firmly oppose linking Canada's internal affairs with China-related factors, hyping up the unfounded "China interference," and maliciously discrediting and smearing China, which is not helpful to the healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations, the spokesperson noted.
