(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced on Friday that the country has established over 30,000 smart factories to date, including 1,200 advanced and 230 world-class smart factories.
These world-class smart factories are spread across 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, covering more than 80 percent of the major categories in the manufacturing industry, according to the MIIT.
Smart factories are widely applied in nearly 2,000 scenarios, including smart warehousing, online intelligent inspections, digital product research and development, intelligent production scheduling, quality traceability, and performance analysis and improvement.
On average, these factories have reduced product development time by 28.4 percent, increased production efficiency by 22.3 percent, lowered the defective product rate by 50.2 percent, and cut carbon emissions by 20.4 percent.
The MIIT also announced the release of the 2024 list of world-class smart factories and stated that it will continue working with relevant departments to cultivate and promote the development of smart factories across the country.
