A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Monday urged the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority in Taiwan to cease making wanton remarks concerning the election of the sixth-term chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the comments in response to relative remarks from Taiwan's mainland affairs council.

Zhu hailed the election of the sixth-term HKSAR chief executive as another successful practice in the development of democracy with Hong Kong characteristics. She said the election has fully embodied the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong" and demonstrated the vitality of the "one country, two systems."

Zhu said that the DPP has been eager to criticize the election because the successful practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong has exposed the DPP's lies and deceit as well as its trick of slandering the HKSAR.
