Cooperation between Laos and China in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak is successful and could comprehensively deepen bilateral relations, said Lao ambassador to China Khamphao Ernthavanh in a recent written interview with Xinhuanet.
The ambassador said the China-Laos relationship is not under "lockdown" despite the epidemic. On the contrary, the two countries support and assist each other in the COVID-19 fight and other areas.
"I highly valued the cooperation and support between our two countries on the epidemic's prevention and control," the ambassador said, noting that China has sent medical experts to Laos to work along with Lao teams on epidemic prevention and control, as well as treating COVID-19 patients.
She said this cooperation could deepen bilateral relations in the fields of health care, experience-sharing, and epidemic prevention and control.
As for China's COVID-19 response, the ambassador said China puts people's lives and health as its top priority and has carried out timely measures to contain the spread of the virus, which should be learned by other countries.
To minimize the economic impact, China has rolled out effective measures, namely, the macro policy to facilitate the financial access of small and medium-sized enterprises, low tax and interest rate, the ambassador said.
People's livelihood and economic activities are gradually recovering in China, the ambassador added.
China has set 2020 as the target year to finish the building of a moderately prosperous society in all aspects.
The ambassador said it is a very significant year for the Chinese people and will create a great opportunity for Laos and China to boost cooperation in economy, trade, investment and agriculture.
She also praised China's poverty alleviation efforts, saying poverty rate in China has decreased greatly and people's livelihood has improved rapidly in recent years.
It is a "great victory of people around the world" and "the great experiences of human's history," she said.
Laos strongly believes that China will achieve the targets of poverty alleviation and completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the ambassador said.
China's success will encourage and provide experience for Laos in its fight against poverty, she added.
