Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a congratulatory letter to the 35th Annual Plenary Session of the InterAction Council which opened in Beijing.
In the letter, Xi, on behalf of the Chinese government and Chinese people, and in his own name, extended congratulations on the opening of the session and sincere welcome to the members of the InterAction Council present at the session.
Xi said the reform of the global governance system and the international order is accelerating, and it has become a general trend and the common task for all countries to strengthen global governance and improve the global governance system.
The InterAction Council has made continuous efforts on solving global challenges and played an active role in safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, Xi said.
The session focused on topics about global governance affairs, Xi said, adding that he believed it would help various parties deepen their consensus and improve the global governance system.
He stressed that China always follows the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration in engaging in global governance, firmly supports multilateralism and actively promotes the building of a new type of international relations, as well as a community with a shared future for humanity.
"We stand ready to work with the international community to strengthen the exploration and practice on improving the global governance system and jointly build a better future for humanity," Xi said, adding that he wished the session a complete success.
The InterAction Council, an international non-governmental organization composed of some former world leaders, was established in 1983 and aims to put forward suggestions and solutions for global political, economic and social issues. The InterAction Council held its 11th plenary session in Shanghai in 1993 and its 30th plenary session in Tianjin in 2012.
